ADOPTION PENDING!!! From Buddy's foster mom... Buddy is a really great dog. This gentle boy has been a guest in my home since October 22. Buddy is house trained, crate trained, kid friendly and cat safe. He is a toy-loving dog and will play fetch or tug of war as long as you can keep throwing toys. Buddy loves to be petted and is one of the most affectionate Shelties I’ve fostered. We end our day on the couch and his favorite spot is tucked behind my knees. Buddy is definitely not a shy boy and he rarely goes anywhere without his friend Chipmunk. They are inseparable. Buddy has remarkably clean teeth and I would like to think his love of Bully stix helps with his smile. He is not a barker until I attempt to vacuum. Don’t let his age or size mislead you. He is active and in excellent health. He enjoys walks and we’re on extremely good terms with our neighbors’ dogs. He does not lunge at cars, humans or other dogs. He has intelligent eyes and keen hearing and often sees squirrels 4 or 5 houses ahead of me. It’s comical how he transitions from an easy walking gate to a Sheltie on pointe. If there are any water fowl on our lakes, Buddy morphs into duck hunter and finally gets vocal. Buddy will do well with or without another dog. He and my senior boy play frequently but I feel he would do okay by himself if he was given attention and play time. He really, really likes snow. My hope is he finds his forever family and they have a nice size yard where he can exercise to maintain his healthy weight. As of February 8, Buddy weighed in at 52 pounds. We hope to get him down to an ideal weight of around 48 pounds. Buddy enjoys belly rubs first thing in the morning and falls asleep with his nose tucked into his hip.
Buddy has an adorable habit of chasing his tail. If he’s asking for more treats when we know he’s reached his daily limit, he will chase his tail and most likely catch it. If you’re looking for a healthy, playful, loyal, and intelligent dog, he fits the bill.
Buddy is loyal, eager to please and will make someone a wonderful pet. You might ask why, if he’s so perfect, haven’t I adopted him. The answer is obvious. I want Buddy to find his forever home so I can continue to foster and help other needy Shelties find families. I cannot imagine a more perfect dog. It’s a win:win for everyone.
